Dear parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo, Resurrection & All Saints,
Today is Dr. Martin Luther King’s actual birthday. A reminder about the annual MLK Interfaith Service organized by our Central Harlem Cluster Council on Saturday January 18that 11 am at St Charles Borromeo Church. Please, see attached flyer.
We are blessed to have an amazing and inspirational MLK Interfaith Service. This intergenerational service will include prayer, dance, music and action.
Rev. LaKeesha Walrond, Executive Pastor at First Corinthian Baptist Church is the keynote speaker. In addition, we will have brief prayers offered by different faith leaders including but not limited to Rev. Al Taylor (Mennonite Church and Assemblymember), Deacon Miquel Grande, Rev.. Gawain De Leeuw (Holy Trinity Episcopal Church), Rev. Theodora Brooks (St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church), Rabbi Rivera, Capuchin Brother Zuba, Rev. Dr. Gail Badger (Mt. Zion Baptist Church) and Mika’ll Abdullah DeVeaux, Associate Imam of the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood.
In addition, there will be a liturgical dance done by our own youth Nevaeh Blake, choreographed by Nine Kylert-Lawson and two MLK readings by two of our other youths: Noah Blake and Jasmin Julien. Also our own young adult Carthavina Momplasir will perform Spoken Word - St Charles Borromeo. Of course, there will be inspirational Music by our Praise & Worship choir under the direction of our Musical Director Br'Von Neal.
As we know, Faith without Works is dead. We will have two special actions related to immigration and voting. These actions will focus on how to welcome the newly arrived (maybe some not so newly arrived) and to honor our sacred right to vote.
We hope you can attend. ALL ARE WELCOME
PS: We kindly invite our Ministry Leaders to share reminders to their respective members about the MLK Interfaith Service on Saturday January 18that 11 am. Thanks so much for your assistance.
